Hajime Tabata revealed as much during a recent interview with Eurogamer, with the Final Fantasy 15 director explaining that he and his team are doing some “technical investigations” with Nintendo to see what’s possible on the Switch. Although it seems as if nothing has been confirmed as of yet, Tabata-san’s statements on the matter seem to be optimistic, as the developers are delving into some hard work to see if a port on the Nintendo console could happen.

If that’s not enough positive reinforcement to Final Fantasy 15 fans looking forward to a potential Nintendo Switch port, then Tabata’s admission to being in talks with Epic Games as well regarding the matter ought to boost one’s confidence that it could eventually happen. Interestingly enough, the game’s director praised the development company’s Unreal Engine, saying that it “is just amazing, and will be very useful.”

Taking all of this into consideration, while there’s no telling if Final Fantasy 15 will ever be able to make the leap onto the Nintendo Switch, the fact that Square Enix is trying so diligently to port the title on the system should be encouraging. After all, the company managed to find a way to not only make a PC version of the game after its initial launch, but also a Pocket Edition built for Android, iOS, and Windows 10. So, with any luck, Nintendo fans will eventually be able to experience the unfettered quests of Noctis and his pals on the Switch in the near future.

Final Fantasy 15 is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while it’s set to launch in early 2018 for PC. A Nintendo Switch version of the game has yet to be officially announced.
