Final Fantasy 14 fans from across the globe submitted their entries for the design contest. The grand prize winners would have their weapons added to the game at a later date, in addition to winning exclusive cosmetic prizes.

Some of the designs were cool and intimidating, like the obsidian-bladed Dark Knight greatsword with its bone and wing decals, or the Warrior’s flaming chainsaw wheel axe. Some of the designs were elegant and classy, like the azulejo ceramic Machinist gun or the parasol Samurai katana. Other designs went for cute designs, such as the Bard’s squirrel bow or the Red Mage’s nixie umbrella rapier. Some of the weapons, however, went for a more comedic theme, like the Monk’s shark fist knuckles and the birthday cake White Mage cane.

Though only two winners were selected from each job category, Final Fantasy 14 showed off a wide selection of talented works from the other finalists. These contestants showed just as much creativity and skill as the grand prize winners, and many fans want some, if not all, of these weapons to make their way into the game eventually. Luckily, Final Fantasy 14 said some of the best finalist entries may be added to the game eventually. The full gallery of weapons designed by the grand prize winners and finalists can be found on the official Lodestone website.

Now that the contest is over, many artists and fans are sharing their entries and fan designs on Twitter and Reddit. Though many of these entries did not make it into the finalists, they are no less incredible. Final Fantasy 14 fans are loving all of the unique concepts their fellow fans are sharing, and wish it were possible for all of them to be added to the game somehow.

Unfortunately, the contest was held before the Reaper and Sage classes were released in Final Fantasy 14, so no scythe or nouliths designs were chosen in the contest. However, Final Fantasy 14 plans on hosting more Weapon Design Contests in the future, which would include the new jobs. Until then, players will have to see where Final Fantasy 14 implements the winning entries from the contest in game.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
