This Final Fantasy 14 glitch revolves around causing an emote to bug out, resulting in its animations being incorrectly rendered. When combined with Final Fantasy 14’s many dance emotes, this glitch turns players’ characters into hilariously bad dancers.

The glitch itself is not too difficult to replicate. While in the /gpose function of the game, simply hit the “Pause Emote” command immediately after switching to a new emote. Doing this will cause the emote to perform muted, instead of pausing it completely. Using this glitch, players can also spawn in items created in certain emotes, like in the broom from the /sweep animation, and keep it during other animations. Players don’t know exactly why this bug is occurring in Final Fantasy 14, but they are certainly having a good time with it while it lasts.

Final Fantasy 14 has nine years of hilarious glitches in its history, from the ability to dance while moving to the infamous planking fisherman. Like many of its predecessors, the bad dancer glitch probably won’t last long–some players already claim it has been patched out, though others still seem to be able to replicate it. Regardless of its run time, players will always be able to remember the hilarity, short-lived as it may be.

Players are being sure to play around with this glitch as much as possible before it is gone. The results are laughably goofy, though other dances are actually quite cute while combined with the glitch. Some players compared some muted emotes, like the normally-suggestive Bee’s Knees dance, to other infamously bad dances, like Commander Shepard’s shuffle from Mass Effect.

Final Fantasy 14 recently launched its second major content patch since the Endwalker expansion. The patch, titled Buried Memory, takes Final Fantasy 14 players deep into the Void as they scour the realm for signs of a missing dragon, mastering the dark world and facing down its fell denizens. In addition to new story content, Buried Memory also added a new high-difficulty Extreme trial, as well as a new raid tier with Pandaemonium Abyssos (Savage). If this glitch survives a little longer, perhaps some Final Fantasy 14 players can unwind between boss pulls with some hilariously bad dancing with their static raid groups.
