The character combinations were produced by ArcTemperedPhoeniX, an avid fan of both Final Fantasy 14 and Elden Ring. They have produced a great deal of fan art for both games, as well as Castlevania, Dragon’s Crown, and more.

The first of the Final Fantasy 14 and Elden Ring fusions was of Lyna, an important character from the Shadowbringers expansion, and Malenia, the infamous Blade of Miqella and the hardest boss in Elden Ring. The art envisioned the guard captain as the “Chakram of the Crystal Exarch,” mirroring Lyna’s devotion to her surrogate father with that of Malenia’s towards her twin. ArcTemperedPhoeniX used the Crystal Exarch’s crystal corruption in place of the Scarlet Rot of Malenia, and designed armor that is a perfect fusion of the two characters. Both characters sport a crimson cloak, further drawing a comparison between the two.
The second crossover is between Y’shtola Rhul and Ranni the Witch. ArcTemperedPhoeniX’s mashup of these two characters mirrors that of a previous drawing they made of Ranni, but with more elements of Y’shtola combined with her dress and style. Most fans would agree with ArcTemperedPhoeniX in desiring Ranni’s hat for their Final Fantasy 14 glamours, or the Ranni-influenced version of the Nixie minion for their collections. The combination of two major face characters beloved by fans of the franchises, Y’shtola the Witch is certain to steal the hearts of many.
As expected, Final Fantasy 14 and Elden Ring fans instantly fell in love with ArcTemperedPhoneiX’s work. Both received dozens of comments within days of the works’ posting. Beyond complementing ArcTemperedPhoeniX on their work, fans also imagined other situations of crossover between the world of Final Fantasy 14 and the Lands Between. Some also suggested how one might best accomplish glamours for these Elden Ring characters in Final Fantasy 14–a deed other players have done in games like Guild Wars 2.
It is unclear whether ArcTemperedPhoeniX plans on making more of these Elden Ring and Final Fantasy 14 crossovers. There are plenty of other characters in both games who could make fantastic parallels. Elden Ring’s possible upcoming DLC would undoubtedly have even more terrifying and fantastic characters–perhaps one of them could inspire ArcTemperedPhoneiX to make another Final Fantasy 14 mashup.
Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
