To prepare for the launch of Endwalker, Square Enix gathered talented artists from the Final Fantasy 14 community in Korea to submit their art to be showcased through a daily countdown on the game’s official Korean Twitter account. The expansion launched on May 10th, featuring 14 pieces of artwork in various styles handpicked by Square Enix’s social media team.

A Reddit user named MKillerby was kind enough to gather the images from Twitter and share them with the rest of the Final Fantasy 14 community. Featuring Gaia and Ryne enjoying their tea next to a certain shoebill, to the Scions of the Seventh Dawn walking alongside the spirits of the Warriors of Light from the First Reflection, to the new jobs of Endwalker in Reaper and Sage, to the new locations in Sharlayan and Mare Lamentorum – the excitement for Korean players to finally enter the new expansion while saying farewell to Shadowbringers is plain to see.

Square Enix recognizes that the situation for some of its playerbase is far from ideal in terms of having to wait an extra few months for content. Though the company isn’t in a position to handle Chinese and Korean localizations in-house due to legal restrictions, the developers are making sure that the players are at least suitably compensated with exclusive in-game content as part of its partnership with the local company in charge of localization – which in South Korea’s case is ActozSoft.

Though the game seems to be doing well on a global level, mods and third party tools in Final Fantasy 14 have recently reemerged as a topic of contention and controversy in the wake of the Dragonsong’s Reprise. Game director Naoki Yoshida even went as far as to condemn the practice of datamining, stating that it undermined the efforts of the development team and the enjoyment of the players alike.

Ultimately, Square Enix’s stance remains the same as it has ever been: provided players do not publicly advertise their use of mods in Final Fantasy 14, they will not be punished for breaking the terms of agreement.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
