FF14 will technically be celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, having launched back in 2010 – however, that release wasn’t terribly successful, and the game was re-built and re-released in 2013 with much better results. It’s still a popular MMO today, and this year’s major DLC, Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers, launched to great success.

In Echoes of a Falling Star, FF14 players will get a large batch of brand new quests as part of the patch’s playable content. It contains new main scenario quests that continue the narrative of Shadowbringers, a new raid called Eden’s Verse which introduces the character of Gaia, and new Beast Tribe quests geared specifically towards Disciples of the Land classes. In addition, the patch adds The Sorrows of Werlyt (part of the Chronicles of a New Era quest list) and with it, brings back a famous and deadly combatant from Final Fantasy 7: the Ruby Weapon boss fight, which players can battle after finishing the first mission from patch 5.2.

But Echoes of a Falling Star has even more content beyond that: a new dungeon called Anamnesis Anyder, which can be tackled with either other players or a party of NPCs. Ocean fishing is also now an option, meaning players can board a ship during the allotted times and go deep-sea fishing, earning experience and scrips for their catches of the day. The myriad of in-game adjustments and additions involves new emotes, hairstyles, minions, mounts, several Crafter and Gatherer updates, and more.

Naturally, the list goes on into the many requested bug-fixes and tweaks, which can all be found in 5.2’s official patch notes. While it’s a lot to cover, it also means that FF14 players should have no trouble keeping busy for the foreseeable future–even after the eventual launch of the PS5.

Final Fantasy 14 is available for Mac, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
