AIFF has received a boost from the union cabinet, after the centre has decided to back their bid to host the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The AIFF requires Rs.120 crore from the centre in order to improve the infrastructure, and also its guarantees on several counts that include employment, visas, and tax exemptions for foreign entities.

The last big event that the centre had approved was the Delhi’s Commonwealth Games, which led to several corruption charges.

Should AIFF’s bid to host the major event be successful, it will see the improvement of the following stadiums – Jawaharlal Nehru of Delhi (Rs.5 crore), Salt Lake in Kolkata (Rs.15 crore), Cooperage in Mumbai (Rs.25 crore), Balewadi complex in Pune (Rs.10 crore) BFA of Bangalore (Rs.35 crore) and one stadium in Goa, Assam or Kerala.
